In the past year I really have gottin back into it. Alot of it thanks to this site and also the motivation and advice from Tony Rocca.
I know its time to finally "get with the times" First and forefront my sources will be coming from vinyl. I plan on adding a 3rd deck. I have a custom coffin that hold 3 decks coming to me when I get back...thanks Tony...
Ok, now for the technology. With my career I don't think I will ever have the time to get back into djing full fledge. I would be happy with just one club gig a month in PA, NY, or NJ... I am looking at the Pioneer Effects 1000, a sampler from Roland or Akai, and I will look at Serato, but I would still use real vinyl as much as possible. I think with Serato I wouldn't need a pair of cdj's, which I would like to just have the 3 decks going either on their own or thru Serato. Lastly a gread editing program like Sony Sound Forge to add even more, edit, remaster, and finalize the mix, this would seal the deal on an 80 minute mix that would blow some one's mind and take them thru a journey leaving them begging for more when it over. All this sounds more like production/remix set up, and for the most part, yes it will be. I always liked doing creative things, and I would like to add my own twist on everything, then use it to mix. My favorite dj Steve Lawler does this to each track he spins before his gigs, so all of his tracks have their own original twist on them. Another dj, on a different level is Dj Enferno, you guys should check out his "live remix" project: absolutely what I am looking to do. I think one of you guys put me down with Dj Enferno on a thread a while back, either way this guy is tight, and whoever let me know about him...thanks...
We'll see what happens, all this takes money and time, and dedication. If I am lucky enough to get a station which affords me the time to dedicate, the passion I have will be the drive to make this whole thing work. I already have the passion and motivation, we'l see how the rest falls into play. Hey right now its just a plan, without dreams, goals, and a plan, how can one be successful?...oh yeah money...lol...djc.
